God Defends The Rights of Both Jews and Gentiles
Memory Scripture – Deuteronomy 10:17 – 18 (New International Version)
17 For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. 18 He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.
As the God of justice and the Master of all, God didn’t allow the Egyptian King to cheat Abram. In His impartiality, He also defends the rights of gentiles. He doesn’t cheat! God is forever impartial. In fact, He hates and condemns partiality. He deals with everyone, Jew or gentile, according to His holiness. God is holy and just; He is unlike sons of men who are partial and take bribe to pervert justice (1 Sam. 2:2). You don’t have any excuse for not being like God who defends the rights of Jews and Gentiles alike (Matthew 5:48).
God defends Abraham and Issac. Cheating is rife in our society, and is gradually becoming the order of the day. The hard-earned savings of many have ended up in the pocket of fraudsters and dupes, without any hope of recovery. Many employers of labour make do with the salaries and allowances of their workers, without considering the hardship the said workers go through. Politicians cheat the people they represent, just like some church leaders and members do. May God drain this bad blood from us all, and deliver the cheated from their oppressors in Jesus’sName, Amen.
God rescues Abraham’s wife from Pharaoh (Genesis 12:10 – 20) – Verse 17 But the Lord inflicted serious diseases on Pharaoh and his household because of Abram’s wife Sarai. God rescues Issac’s wife from Abimelech (Genesis 26:1 – 14) Verse 7 When the men of that place asked him about his wife, he said, “She is my sister,” because he was afraid to say, “She is my wife.” He thought, “The men of this place might kill me on account of Rebekah, because she is beautiful.”
God defends Hagar of Egypt and Gibeonites. To defend someone’s right is to fight for them to get what they deserve or what belongs to them, either by legal means or by enforcement. God is the Defender of the defenceless. He defended even people who were considered not to be His people, and thus should not have been defended. He will defend you and ensure you get all He has for you in Jesus’sName, Amen.
God defends Hagar of Egypt (Genesis 21:8 – 20) – Verse 17 God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. 18 Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation.” God defends the Gibeonites (2 Samuel 21:1 – 14) – Verse 1, During the reign of David, there was a famine for three successive years; so David sought the face of the Lord. The Lord said, “It is on account of Saul and his blood-stained house; it is because he put the Gibeonites to death.”
CONCLUSION
God’s impartiality and justice will never allow Him to take sides in any matter. Whatever anyone deserves, is what God would give him; no partiality. He is the righteous Judge who has no favourite, except those who love Him and walk according to His purpose for their lives. Most assuredly and refreshing, He can neither be bribed nor hoodwinked into perverting justice in favour of the highest bidder. May the Holy Spirit assist us to internalise this invaluable teachings that are meant to restructure our society and the legal system, God being the Governor and Judge of all nations, persons, and actions, and make us worthy to reign with Him ultimately, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
